UTHM’s Commitment to Inclusive, Equitable and Quality Education

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. As a technical public university, UTHM plays a key role in producing skilled, knowledgeable, and responsible graduates who contribute to national and global development.

UTHM’s efforts in achieving SDG 4 include:

  •  Inclusive Access to Education

UTHM provides equal educational opportunities for all, especially students from underprivileged backgrounds (B40), through financial aid schemes, scholarships, and special admissions support. The university also supports persons with disabilities (OKU) with accessible infrastructure and academic accommodations.

  •  Lifelong Learning and TVET Empowerment

UTHM promotes lifelong learning through micro-credentials, short courses, and community education programmes, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). These initiatives aim to enhance employability, upskilling, and community empowerment.

  • Curriculum for Sustainable Development

Courses and programmes at UTHM integrate elements of sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility to prepare students to become holistic, future-ready individuals. UTHM also promotes Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and industry-linked education for real-world readiness.

  • Digital and Open Learning

UTHM supports digital transformation in education through online learning platforms such as UTHM MOOCs, ODL (Open and Distance Learning), and the development of open educational resources (OER) for wider access to knowledge.

  • Global Outreach and Academic Collaboration

UTHM collaborates with international institutions and participates in global mobility programmes to ensure students and staff benefit from knowledge exchange, research opportunities, and cross-cultural experiences.

By focusing on equitable access, innovation in pedagogy, and lifelong learning, UTHM remains committed to building a more educated, inclusive, and sustainable society.
